Attention

Important notice for users

Read these instructions carefully before using the MyReel products. Follow all safety guidelines and use the product only for its intended purpose.

Never wrap the fishing line around your fingers, hand, or any other part of your body. A tight line under tension can cause serious injury.

Always make sure before casting and using the product that there are no people, animals, or property nearby that could be hit or damaged by the lure, weight, or line. The user is responsible for ensuring there is sufficient safe space for casting.

Initial steps

  • Take the MyReel reel out of its storage box or other storage solution and prepare it for use.
  • Attach your chosen lure, hook, or other fishing gear to the quick-release clip. You may also use a leader if needed.
  • Ensure safe use of the product by checking your surroundings according to the safety instructions.
  • Decide which hand you will hold the reel with and which hand you will use for casting. MyReel reels can be used with either hand.

Casting method 1 - backhand (less than 5m)

This casting method is intended for short-distance casts and is an easy way to start using MyReel fishing.

Hold the reel with a firm grip in your non-casting hand and lightly hold the line with your casting hand close to the quick-release clip.

To ensure smooth line release, pull a small amount of line out from the reel so that it hangs loosely between your casting hand and the reel.

Position the reel so that the direction the line comes off matches your casting direction.

Cast the lure using your casting hand with the edge of your hand leading forward, allowing the line and lure to follow the direction of your hand movement.

Release the line from your hand so that the lure and line continue freely toward the target direction.

Casting method 2 - Moonshot cast (distances over 5m)

This casting method is intended for longer-distance casts and may require more precision and practice to achieve maximum range. The goal is to generate momentum in the lure using a circular swinging motion and launch it toward the target direction.

  • Hold the reel with a firm grip in your non-casting hand and lightly hold the line with your casting hand approximately 30–50 cm from the quick-release clip, allowing you to swing it beside your body.
  • To ensure smooth line release, pull a small amount of line out from the reel so that it hangs loosely between your casting hand and the reel.
  • Position the reel so that the direction the line comes off matches your casting direction.
  • Start swinging the line and lure in a wide circular motion with your casting hand to build momentum in the lure.
  • Increase speed gradually by completing several rotations of the line and lure.
  • Release the line from your casting hand so it continues freely toward the intended direction.
  • It is recommended to release your grip at the lowest point of the swing so the cast launches from a lower trajectory.

Reel in

Proper retrieval technique allows you to reel in the line quickly and effortlessly.

MyReel quick reel

  • Hold the outer rim of the reel so that the Flex brake is positioned under your thumb.
  • With your casting hand, grab the line and guide it into the line guide groove.
  • Keep the reel slightly angled relative to the direction of the incoming line so the line stays properly seated in the guide groove during retrieval.
  • Reel in the line at a speed that suits your fishing style.

MyReel standard reel

  • Hold the reel in a comfortable grip that allows you to collect the line onto the spool.
  • Wind the line manually around the reel so that it is not overly tight, ensuring smooth line release on the next cast.
