Favorite Sizes for Trout, Salmon and Perch

The smallest Kuusamo Räsänen models cast impressively far for their size and are ideal for targeting trout and other game fish in rivers and lakes. They are also highly effective perch lures. The Räsänen 50/14 is especially well suited for shore anglers, as its extra weight helps achieve longer casting distances.

Räsänen is more than just a traditional casting lure — you can also fish it using a jigging technique or as a vertical lure.

For jigging, let the lure sink to the bottom after casting. Then retrieve it with a couple of quick turns of the reel handle. Let the lure sink back to the bottom and repeat. Then wait for the strike! This technique can be used to target pike, zander and perch.

Räsänen also works great as a vertical jig, and this model is particularly well suited for it. Let the Räsänen sink to the bottom and then reel it about 20 cm (8 in) above the bottom. Make a couple of long, quick lifts, then pause. Give the lure a few subtle vibrations and pause again.
