Son of a Seabass was born from a simple idea: how could the traditional hand reel be improved to make fishing easier, more versatile, and inspire people to spend more time by the water—even on a whim.
Learning to fish has been an exciting journey filled with new experiences. In the early days of the hobby, we quickly realized how much equipment fishing often requires and how intimidating it can feel for beginners to get started. That led us to ask ourselves whether fishing could be made simpler without sacrificing versatility.
Our goal was to create a compact, portable fishing tool that lowers the barrier to getting started and makes fishing effortless for both beginners and experienced anglers alike.

The idea behind MyReel began with a simple question: Could a single fishing tool be used for ice fishing, float fishing, lure casting, and spin fishing?
The goal was to combine pocket-sized portability, versatility, and the essential features of a fishing reel into one tool—without unnecessary complexity.
The concept was born during the dark winter months, in the midst of busy family life, when time spent outdoors and fishing provided a welcome escape from everyday routines. The first sketches were completed within just a few hours and gradually evolved into prototypes, refined through extensive testing, feedback, and multiple design iterations.
By the spring of 2026, MyReel was ready: a compact and versatile fishing tool designed for both beginners and experienced anglers.
